He plays a sublime low ball across the face of goal that Dest appears certain to convert before Gaya intervenes with a sliding challenge.

9′ The Camp Nou was eerily quiet before the start of the game and now you can hear a pin drop. Barca need to do something to get the crowd behind them.

7′ Dest takes possession down the right flank and forces a low cross into the box that Gabriel has to clear behind for a corner amid the presence of Gavi.

6′ That is not the start that Barcelona needed. Koeman and his players are now under huge pressure to react.

2′ WIDE! De Jong works the ball to Fati on the left flank and he drives at the Valencia defence. The forward goes for a low strike towards the near post, but fires his effort into the side-netting.

1′ Pique loses possession and the ball works it way towards Soler, but his cross fails to find a team-mate in the Barcelona box.

1′ We’re under way at Camp Nou.

Barcelona have just lost one of their last 10 LaLiga games against Valencia (W5 D4), 0-2 in January 2020 under Quique Setien and with Albert Celades as Valencia’s manager.

Valencia have also made four changes to their side from their draw against Cadiz last time out. The visitors welcome back Gaya, Soler, Diakhaby and Gomez into the starting line-up as Musah and Marcos drop to the bench, while Toni Lato and Omar Alderete miss out tonight.

Aguero is poised to make his Barcelona debut, although it will come from the bench. Koeman has made four changes to his team that was beaten 2-0 by Atletico last time out. Alba, Garcia and Sergi Roberto start in the back four as Ronald Araujo and Mingueza make way. Coutinho and Gonzalez make way from the middle of the park as Fati comes into the side, while Dest pushes forward from the back.

VALENCIA SUBS: Jaume Domenech, Yunus Musah, Uros Racic, Helder Costa, Denis Cheryshev, Manu Vallejo, Marcos de Sousa, Jason, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Vazquez Alcalde, Cristhian Ibarguen.

VALENCIA (4-4-2): Jasper Cillessen; Dimitri Foulquier, Gabriel Paulista, Mouctar Diakhaby, Jose Gaya; Carlos Soler, Daniel Wass, Hugo Guillamon, Hugo Duro, Goncalo Guedes, Maxi Gomez.

BARCELONA SUBS: Riqui Puig, Yusuf Demir, Neto, Philippe Coutinho, Clement Lenglet, Luuk de Jong, Sergio Aguero, Oscar Mingueza, Samuel Umtiti, Inaki Pena, Nicolas Gonzalez, Alejandro Balde.

BARCELONA (4-3-3): Marc-Andre ter Stegen; Sergi Roberto, Gerard Pique, Eric Garcia, Jordi Alba; Frenkie de Jong, Sergio Busquets, Gavi, Sergino Dest, Memphis Depay, Ansu Fati.

Valencia also require an upturn in form after failing to win their last four matches in LaLiga. José Bordalas’ men made a bright start to the campaign, but have faded after surrendering a late comeback to Real Madrid last month. They have an opportunity tonight to put the pressure on the Catalan club. Valencia can play on the nerves of the Barca players, but will have to remain composed themselves.

Barcelona begin the evening sitting in ninth place in the table and on the back of successive defeats to Benfica and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and LaLiga respectively. The pressure on Ronald Koeman is reaching breaking point, although the club have insisted that he has their full confidence. However, a victory tonight is a must for the Catalan club and the Dutchman to ease the tension around Camp Nou.

Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the LaLiga clash between Barcelona and Valencia at Camp Nou.
